A Cambridge Hair Salon with History

We’re often asked about our name, The Sample Room, which is taken from the historic and handsome brick building it occupies, in the pretty heart of Cambridge’s town centre, near the clock tower.

A century ago, hotels would be frequented by traveling salesmen who needed space to display their wares. Hotels would offer what were known as “Sample Rooms” for this purpose and our building was once part of the old National Hotel.

When you next visit us, look up and you’ll see the original “SAMPLE ROOMS” inscription above the doorway.
